Photography Exam
Journal Entry: Fri May 9, 2008, 7:06 AM
Having completed the Critical and contextual studies in art exam yesterday in 3 hours when it was supposed to be eight i managed to also finish what I had set out for a twelve hour photography exam in just under three hours also.
I'm actually really pleased with the result I managed to get out of my images. I managed to create, in my opinion a series that looks like a surreal yet professional set of progressive portraits that detail the transition of life into impending death.
However, as i still have nine scheduled hours of exam left for Photography my tutor feels that I should do something constructive with the time left in order to really push my creative boundaries and secure the A i'm heading for.
He said that I should think about incorporating text into or with my imagery as i'm really strong at writing. I think this is a good idea and have decided to use the series I created in today's exam to create a written story about each of the images, in effect making a overall story book detailing one persons transition through life and into death.
It's a bit out of the ordinary for me as I usually photograph conceptually but display fairly ordinarily but i'm liking the creative display prospect of this idea.
I'm just about to post up the series i completed today, and will post my finished story booklet to accompany the series when i've completed that also.
On a lighter note, im completely knackered! My english teacher decided to set a "language in context" mock. Blargh.

I am so happy that you like my pictures so much. I have been experimenting with photoshop for about a year now and have finally begun to develop a style I am really liking.
I achieve my colours through the lighting of the scene (they are taken around 3pm, Autumn with Australian sun) and also by using selctive colour in photoshop. All you can do really is experiment!
cya on Thursday at college
